“When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for.”” Clarissa Pinkola Estes
I was thinking about sending a message this week that I was not feeling well and I wouldn’t be writing anything for the newsletter and then I thought “no”; I’m going to share from my heart about what I am experiencing. The reason for that is that I feel that what has been happening with me and my health is a great lesson for me and it might be for you, as well.
For more than a year I have been suffering from one health challenge after another. It has taken me on a journey that has been long and arduous filled with doctors, diets, alternative treatments, etc. etc.. That hasn’t been the hard part. The hard part has been that I have had several diagnoses that were very serious and/or life threatening. And, then, I was told that the threat was gone and that I could recover from the challenge and all would be well. I would then gather all the information that I could find about alternative and complementary treatments and begin to recover. Only to be faced, once again, with another symptom and another life threatening diagnosis.
After awhile, I have begun to feel disillusioned, numb, hopeless and hyper-vigilant. And, then, just like today, I would remember…… I would remember my belief of why I came here, why I signed up for a spiritual journey, why I believe that we can all heal and grow and that I can help others through this process by offering healing services. And, I remember that I believe that we are here to evolve and become more conscious beings. And, that’s why I am have been committed to creating healing centers. And, I could go on and on…. It isn’t an easy journey and I have often been faced with many challenges but we all have and, I believe, that’s part of the plan. I just need to remember what Clarissa Pinkola Estes says so well in the quote above. I have it written down and placed on my desk. Maybe you will, too. You might also like to read one of her recent articles that Mitch Ditkoff posted on his blog. It’s below.
I also believe that we need to remind each other. As always, I’m eager to hear back from you this week at docbeverly@aol.com.
I am co-facilitating the Hero’s Journey Retreat with Mitch Ditkoff in a 3 day retreat in February, 2017! Don’t miss this special opportunity at a very special price. http://lifepathretreats.com/the-heros-journey-retreat
