“If you want to change your life, just change your story about it.”
Dr. Beverly Nelson
As we approach the upcoming new year of 2020, I’m sure many of you are thinking about New Year’s resolutions and intentions. Notice I said, thinking about, not actually making them! You’re probably also thinking, no way, I’m not going to say I’m going to do something, and then after a month or so, I forget it or I just don’t do it or, or, or……….! Too much pressure!!!!
Well, what if I told you that all you need is just ONE intention in 2020 and that ONE intention will absolutely change your life. What’s that ONE intention? Well, here it is, along with my promise to you!
If you begin each day with the ONE intention to tell the best story you can tell about you, I promise you that you will eventually become that best you.
Let me explain. Each day we share with our families and friends, old and new, segments of what have become the chapters of our lives including the current chapter we are living. We tell our stories without thinking about how we really want to tell them or what specific words we could use. And, often we tell our stories based on our limiting beliefs, fears, doubts and assumptions. We simply buy into the already outlined book and describe the already crafted character and her/his life based on these limiting beliefs and unresolved fears.
But you are actually “editing” your story each day. Only you can write it. You are writing it now. Only you can determine how the main character in your story will be drawn. You have the choice to begin each day with the intention to tell the best story you can, describing the grandest “you” that you can imagine, past, present and future. It’s truly a choice!
I know I’ve talked about how “you can change your life by just changing your story” in a previous blog/newsletter, but today I’m also going to “gift” you with a video and exercise from our new course, “A Hero’s Journey”, that will help you in the process of writing your “best” story.
First, here’s a 3-minute video from our course in which my husband, Michael, talks about how we create our stories. He talks about the importance of knowing yourself (we use the Enneagram to help with that and have actually created another course about the Enneagram) and he also talks about how important it is to use the five steps of the Hero’s Journey (I’ve mentioned that often, right?). Both are important tools in this process and are vital in helping you change the story you tell about your own life. After the video, there is an exercise, just for you, that is designed to help you create the story you want to live.
I hope this is helpful for you and that you can see how you can take charge of your life by setting this ONE intention. Of course, I’d love to hear your stories and hear how you are changing your life, one day at a time. You can comment here or email me at beverly@lifepathmasters.com with your comments.
LET’S MAKE THIS THE BEST YEAR EVER! Beverly

Dear Beverly,
Thank for your New Year’s greeting and gift! I have been thinking of you and remembering your Hero’s Journey workshop that helped me so much back in Dallas, Texas. This summer I plan to visit San Miguel and would so like to see you while I’m there to tell you how your ideas have enriched my life and, perhaps, get your advice on some next steps.
Wishing you a happy, healthy new year!
Kathie
