A Note From Dr. Beverly Nelson, Director
A new year and a new beginning. Why is it that we always wait for moments like this to begin projects or start changing our habits?
There is nothing wrong with being inspired with the beginning of a new year, of course. It’s a great opportunity to either begin anew, or to venture into things we haven’t tried before. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if we felt that way about life every single day, not just during the first days of every new year?
Actually, every second is the perfect moment to begin!
Learning a skill you have always felt curious about; take up journaling; visiting that friend you haven’t seen in a long time; starting the business of your dreams; writing that cook book your friends keep encouraging you to write; having healthier eating habits; start doing yoga…Whatever it is you want to begin, the time is always NOW. Conditions will never be ‘ideal’ or ‘perfect’. Perfection is an illusion. Don’t let days go by and start now, every day, every minute.
Our happiness depends entirely on the timing we set for doing new, fun, good things for us and for those around us. When do you want your happiness to begin? Tomorrow? Next week? On the next new year’s eve? I didn’t think so. Why should we wait? Why postpone new beginnings?
What are the things you are doing NOW? I’d love to hear from you! docbeverly@aol.com.
