Your hand can seize today, but not tomorrow; and thoughts of your tomorrow are nothing but desire. Don’t waste this breath, if your heart isn’t crazy, since “the rest of your life” won’t last forever.
– Omar Khayyam
This week was one of huge losses.
I’m sure most of you have heard or read about the deaths of Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall – two persons who made a mark and inspired many others, each in their own way. Their inspiration and legacy will live on; a powerful reminder of what we leave behind once our spirit leaves the physical world. Many people around the world were touched by their work. Whatever the circumstances of death, it always makes us think; what matters most is how we live our lives, and the love and lessons we leave behind.
This week, many of us who live in San Miguel also experienced losses that hit closer to home. One of them is the sudden passing of Pinky McBrier, a longtime friend and vital member of the Enneagram group that meets weekly at LifePath. I am shocked and saddened by this loss. Pinky was so full of light and wisdom. She will be dearly missed. Join me in wishing her eternal peace and in sending her family lots of love and light.
Another loss is that of Martha Madrigal’s talented, young and vibrant son, Stefan. Martha used to volunteer at LifePath when we were still located at Pila Seca. This is an extremely difficult moment for her, as you may imagine, so if you could have her and her family in your thoughts and prayers, I know she would appreciate it greatly.
These circumstances are always a wake up call from the Universe. All we have is now. All we have is this moment. We must not waste a single second. Do the thing you keep postponing that you’d love to do. Dare to pick up the phone and be the first to say “I’m sorry”. Don’t linger in past mistakes, and don’t devote your time to worrying about what tomorrow may bring. All we have is NOW.
