Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.
– Michael J. Fox
Everyday I thank the universe for the blessing of my family. Pictured on the right is my beautiful and amazing daughter, Alli, during her recent visit this past week. I was so happy and grateful to have her here: we both had some one-on-one time, recharging each other’s ‘batteries’, talking, doing fun things…Made me realize, once more, how blessed I am; because not everybody in the world has the fortune of having a family, or having a family which they love.
Let’s keep in mind, though, that families are not only the ones we’re born into. Many people build a family as they go through life.
Families can be biological or adoptive; they can be huge; or extremely small. Sometimes families are delightful; and other times they teach us difficult lessons about how to navigate through life. Families also consist of those friends who are always there for us – those who know us almost inside-out; and those with whom we can count on one hundred percent, even in the direst circumstances. Sometimes our co-workers or staff can become our family too; it’s no wonder, particularly, when we spend so much time together! Pets are also part of our families – their personality and support always shining through; their presence a constant source of reassurance and joy.
What’s your family like? What is it that you cherish the most about it? Do you take time to give thanks for it every day? I would love to know! docbeverly@aol.com.
