A Note From Dr. Beverly Nelson, Director
“Ask and you shall receive”. Such a true statement, and one we need to remember. And yet…are we able to receive what the universe gives us? Chances are, we are still holding onto things in our past.
Perhaps we haven’t noticed that you haven’t let go of some memories that still hurt, to this day. Maybe we are still holding a grudge towards a person who wronged you in the past. Do we often find ourselves wishing things had been different, or referencing that particular situation? Do we sometimes even wish that person ‘gets what he/she deserves’? That means we are holding onto anger. This anger will not allow us to receive the positive things the universe has in store for us.
The same happens with loss. It is perfectly normal to miss somebody we lost: grief is healing, and it is also a testament of love. However, being deprived of things or situations (such as a job; or an object we cherished that got stolen or broken, for example) can also cause a lingering sense of loss; if we aren’t careful, it might stay with us for the rest of our lives. If we are stuck on that sadness that remains after a loss, how will we be able to receive joy from the universe?
Your arms must be open and free to receive the beautiful, wonderful blessings life has yet to bestow upon you. Are your arms open and free? What are the feelings and memories you have yet to let go of? I’m listening! docbeverly@aol.com.
