I’m Back and Better Than Ever

I’m back and better than ever!!!! And, I have lots to share.

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a newsletter/blog and much has happened. As you all know, the joys and sorrows of life are all mixed together and I’ve had both. But, there is something different about how I feel about life now than I did even as recent as last year.

I’ll explain what I mean by taking you on a little journey with me. I’ve been in the personal growth and transformation field for many decades (to be more exact it’s been almost 50 years). And, what a journey it’s been! Starting with meeting Maharishi Mahesh Yogi when I was only 19, becoming a Psychologist in my 20’s, creating Holistic Healing Centers around the world, teaching at Universities, leading workshops and seminars, counseling hundreds of people and now taking my entire life’s work and creating courses online using the Hero’s Journey. All from the roots of being a Kansas farm girl.

And, through all of this I’ve continued on a personal growth and spiritual path. I’ve read most of the self-help books that are published, gone to hundreds of personal growth workshops or retreats, followed various spiritual leaders and learned many healing techniques, one after another. All to find that “one” thing that I was looking for and then, you know what? I forgot what it was I was looking for! What was I seeking? Was it bliss, happiness, enlightenment? Why was it all so elusive?

Then, I realized. I already had it! It was right here all along. It wasn’t elusive; it just involved conscious choices and taking all that I have learned and applying it to my everyday life.

That includes choosing happiness, bliss and enlightenment. They are all choices. And, conscious choices come from self-knowledge, emotional resiliency and empathy for others, as well as myself.

Oh, and, I might add, we must have the willingness to grow. None of us can escape life’s sorrows and many of us suffer but not all of us grow in the process.

But, before I could choose, I had to get clear on what I wanted and then go about creating that with attention and intention. Over the years, it seems that I have gotten clearer and clearer. As a result, I’ve discovered what I was looking for all along and I have also learned:

  • …that I can create a good day (and often a great day) and I really don’t need to read an inspirational book or consult my horoscope to do that.
  • …that if I look for evidence of beauty and love in everything around me, including myself and my partner, I will find it.
  • …that I can appreciate my life and all of its gifts- my friends, my family, my home, my health (even when it is hard to find something to appreciate).
  • …that laughter helps and it can be easily found if we choose to look for it.
  • …that happiness, bliss and enlightenment (those things that I thought I was looking for) are built by attitude and intention and choices.
  • …that I can risk being more honest and authentic and it works.
  • …that I can say “no” to anything I don’t want in my life.
  • …that I can say “yes” to anything that I do want in my life.

In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to – these are the things that I have said “yes” to in the last year and I’m thrilled to say that with attention and intention they have all been created!

Michael and I have finished our online course Moving Abroad: A Hero’s Journey and we are collaborating with International Living. Check out the course at https://lifepathmasters.com/courses/ but please don’t buy yet. (See why below).

We’ve been invited to present a Hero’s Journey retreat August 11-16, 2019 at Omega in Rhinebeck, New York. Here are the details. It would be wonderful if you could join us! https://www.eomega.org/workshops/a-heros-journey

We’ve made 4 presentations plus workshops at International Living conferences and will present again in Orlando, Florida this April at the International Living Conference being held there.

The core online course- A Hero’s Journey- is nearing completion.

And, two other courses are nearing completion. They are part of our “Tools for Navigating the Hero’s Journey” series:

The Enneagram: A Tool for Your Hero’s Journey

Emotional Freedom Technique: A Tool for Your Hero’s Journey

We will also, soon, be offering you a very special discount (exclusively for my newsletter family) on these courses because you have been my loyal friends and fellow travelers. Stay tuned! We’re working out the details. But, let’s just say, the discount will be substantial.:-)! If you are interested, right now, on the Moving Abroad: A Hero’s Journey, contact me directly and I’ll make sure you get the discount.

I can’t wait to share these courses with you. It’s been such a privilege to connect with you through the years and I want to thank you for being with me on this journey.

What have you said “yes” to with attention and intention? What do you choose to create in your life? I’d love to hear from you at docbeverlynelson@gmail.com or comment right here on my blog.

    Hi Beverly,
So happy you are back with us, your newsletter family. You have sure been busy getting your wisdom out there. Wonderful. As always I and many others benefit greatly from your insights which are grounded in experience and reflection.

My journey now consists of living into Erickson’s last stage of development–Integrity (wisdom) vs Despair. I am preparing for a good death by metabolizing any regrets I have accumulated in my life, burning negative karmas, cultivating kindness and compassion and by sharing any wisdom I have gained when appropriate. I wonder if the hero’s journey will fit with my path now as this hero is approaching the end of her journey. What do you think?
    Fondly,
    Liz

  4. This is all so exciting for you! I especially enjoyed reading the 8 things that you’ve learned along the way. Such wisdom in your writing and in your life, Beverly!
All this from a girl from Kansas;)

  5. Captivating clear newsletter Beverly. love your writing and the flow is so engaging.

    Dancing all around and within!

  6. Thanks for the reply, Roxanna. How’s your Hero’s Journey going??? So glad you’re taking the course!

  7. Thanks, Joseph. It’s been an incredible journey and the good news is- I’m still learning!

  8. Wow, Liz! Your insight is amazing! Always has been! Yes, I think the Hero’s Journey would be a great fit for your path right now. We don’t have a Hero’s Journey group retreat scheduled right now so you might consider taking the online Hero’s Journey course or an individual Hero’s Journey retreat. Moving Abroad: A Hero’s Journey is completed and can be enrolled in right now. Actually, it could be a great fit, since, of course, you have moved abroad. I am finishing the core course, A Hero’s Journey, in a few weeks but, the truth is, Moving Abroad: A Hero’s Journey contains everything that will be contained in it. If you’re interested in registering, contact me by email and I’ll give you that discount I was talking about. And, we can also talk about other options. Great to hear from you and love hearing about your journey!

  9. Glenn, I’m so happy to hear that you’re doing good! That’s marvelous. Yes, life is good and we can continue creating what we want. Isn’t that wonderful? Thanks for putting your trust in me.

  10. Thanks, Raechel. It’s been wonderful to work with Michael and experience how we can both contribute our gifts but in such different ways. I’m so appreciative!

  11. I’ve missed your posts tremendously and I am glad to read you are here and have been super active and busy all this whole time, creating so much greatest! Good for you!

  12. Thanks, Sandie! I’ve missed the connection. Yes, we’ve been very busy and loving it! Hope you are enjoying your life!

  13. I’m very fortunate that our paths crossed. I use things that I’ve learned from you most every day. I still have a dowel on the floor in my office upon which I frequently roll my feet to help relax. I breathe a lot .. and the list goes on. Enjoy!

  14. That’s great, Glenn! I’ve also been using the Emotional Freedom Technique a lot and it really works! Just google it or check out YouTube and you’ll find a lot of information about it. I’ve also included it in our course on the Hero’s Journey as a tool.
