THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF PRESSURE
What a marvelous week this was!!! Thanks to all of you who participated in the Camino de la Paz event last Tuesday – it was so beautiful and inspiring. All those involved in organizing and executing ideas gave their very best. It is so great to be part of this community effort. You can look at some photos of the event here, and there’s also an amazing video here.
While looking at the results of our joined efforts, I couldn’t help but think about what the right kind of pressure can do for us. In life, there are two kinds of ‘pressures’: positive pressure heals, speeds things up, eases the way for projects and motivates us to give our very best – think of it as the kind of deep-tissue pressure you feel while experiencing a massage; while negative pressure makes us stressed, has no specific purpose and brings out the worse in everyone. Positive pressure comes from the universe and its circumstances; negative pressure is usually generated by our own negative thoughts – both internal and external.
Negative pressure is a product of perception. Positive pressure is a gentle ‘nudge’ life and the universe are giving us, so that we move in the right direction. It’s a ‘wake-up’ call, and while it can feel a bit brutal at times, in the end its purpose is to bring good things into our lives. We can only thrive through positive pressure, as long as we learn to work with it and stop resisting it. Feel it and act accordingly – you will experience joy and release any pain, and you will be able to overcome any obstacle that is holding you back.
As for negative pressure? Acknowledge it’s there, and then move on. If it’s negative, it has no reason to determine your actions or to be the chain that conducts your thoughts. Open the valve and just release the steam: sing, dance, meditate, create, hang out with positive people – and remember to breathe.
