Be Awake

I come back to this topic every now and then, but I do it because it’s so real and so urgent…The importance of being present and aware can never be understated. Sometimes, while we talk to our friends or when we’re at the movies, we will find our minds wandering off to other things that worry us or matter to us: “I wonder if so-and-so will finally have that print job ready after all this time”; or “oh, I must not forget that tomorrow I have to make ‘X’ payment”; or perhaps (if we’re having a conversation) we are just thinking about what to answer to the person instead of actually paying attention to what they’re telling us.

Your New Personal Philosophy

Now that we’ve just welcomed one more glorious spring in San Miguel de Allende, we can’t help but feel inspired to renew ourselves. While any time of year is appropriate to make any change or personal improvement – a new look, a new home, a new project, etc. -, spring just seems more appropriate. Maybe it’s the beauty that surrounds us, which is so inspiring: flowers in bloom; extremely blue skies; the strong, pristine sunlight…It’s like paradise!

To Live Fully Is To Trust In Others

There are many experiences that even complete strangers can bond over, because they are universal: the birth of a first son or daughter; marriage; the first trip to another country or continent…Then, there are also some experiences that we all share – at least on a general sense – which are far less pleasant and much more challenging. One of these experiences is when we stop trusting someone. When a life partner, a relative, a friend or even a co-worker betrays us, the shock can be baffling and powerful. It can put us in such a state of sadness and despair, that for a few days we are nearly incapable to think about something else.
